For the purposed of this post, we’re not going to focus on Halloween costumes. Largely because we’re not a purveyor of spooky fancy dress costumes.

Plenty of us go out on Halloween (or the nearest weekend) without macabre fancy dress accessories because, apart from anything else, Halloween is an excuse to flip the party mode button that’s been neglected since August and dress up like it’s NYE.

You might even consider Halloween to be the unofficial commencement of party season. The clocks have gone back and the nights are drawing in absurdly early, which surely means it’s time to start preparing yourself for winter’s late night revelries.

Sure, snug stay at home Autumn isn’t over just yet, but festivities lurk on the horizon and Halloween is great excuse to begin your party season prep. Which, as far as we’re concerned, means shopping for a fab frock.

Blazer dress

Looking for a chic evening wear option with a difference? It’s time to embrace the blazer dress trend. Channelling powerful 80s power dressing vibes but slinky enough to count as legit going out wear, we love the blazer dress because It offers a striking synthesis of the angular, buttoned up blazer silhouette and a leggy evening dress.

LBD

While we’re always on the lookout for new fashions, sometimes you have to acknowledge a trusty, tried and tested look that still does the business. The little black dress is a broad category of clothing but, as a general concept, it’s a fabulously dependable evening wear go-to. Little black dresses come in many shapes and sizes but, ultimately, you’re looking for a dress that isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel. Think simple, elegant and flattering and you won’t go far wrong.

Sequins

Nothing says party season like sequins and no party girl’s wardrobe is complete without out at least one sparkly sequin party dress at this time of year. This gloriously glam dual-sided sequin slip-on dress is a guaranteed head-turner.

Knee-high boots

Who says you can’t wear boots to a party? Not us. The knee-high boot trend has been everywhere this season and we’re convinced it can carry over into party season. They’re far more comfortable than your average pair of tottering high heels and should prove more wearable in everyday life. But pick the right style and knee-highs can be a knockout party look.
